Putting Marlborough on the Map....
Marlborough is a fantastic town, steeped in history, surrounded by stunning countryside, incredible views and a forest that covers over 4,500 acres - Savernake Forest is the only privately owned forest in Great Britain, and it is home to the longest avenue in the country. As well as being in a designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', most of Savernake Forest is a registered SSSI - a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
All of this is just a few minutes away from the historic town of Marlborough, which has a unique appeal. The High Street is fabulous, but don’t miss out by not wandering a little bit further and checking out some of the areas. See our helpful, street by street guide. In fact Marlborough has so much to offer we felt that it was vitally important to put it on the map and let as many people as possible know just how wonderful it really is. So we have and you’ll find it all here at www.marlborough-shopping.co.uk
On this website, you will find a great guide to Where to Shop, Where to Eat and What’s On. Plus helpful advice on parking, a weather guide and news items are all included just to make sure you really enjoy your visit. In our business section, we highlight the people in business in Marlborough and with the development of the new business site Marlborough Business Park, more companies than ever are discovering what a great environment this is.
Shop Chic
The town has a wonderfully eclectic mix of boutique shopping opportunities, from the St Peters Church end of its famous wide High Street to the impressive Town Hall. Whether you’re looking for an outfit for Royal Ascot, or something funky for Glastonbury, unsure about what to wear for Barbury Horse Trials or the Marlborough Jazz Festival- you’ll find the perfect solution in one of Marlborough’s many clothes shops. The independent boutiques ensure shoppers have a truly individual selection- it makes such a refreshing change to see so many different shops in a town, I know shopping centres have their good points, but for me they don’t match that lovely experience of discovering something different in a unique environment. It’s the individuality that appeals and I hope by highlighting the uniqueness of Marlborough we can help preserve it.
Bring The Boys
It’s not just for girls either, there’s a great choice for men too, for stylish fashion from beachwear to DJ’s - sportswear to footwear and once those boys are looking good, there are some great opportunities to check out the latest music and technology options in Marlborough too.
Best Interiors
If you’re more interested in dressing your home, then in-between the many clothes and shoe shops, you will find some wonderful interiors and gift shops, art galleries, antique shops, an Oriental rug gallery and several collectors’ shops.
Exterior Opportunities
Interior magazines often describe our gardens as an extra room, and as we can almost sense the arrival of summer, maybe it’s time to start looking at a little outside decoration.
Cappuccino Moments
Enjoy your day and take regular breaks at one of the wonderful cafes, restaurants, wine bars or pubs. Delicious dishes, from around the world, can all be found in Marlborough within very easy reach. Almost all of the cafes have outside seating and with summer approaching it really is the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by. For discerning foodies who want to go home after their day out and prepare something fabulous , there are deli’s, grocers and award winning butchers, a health food shop and one of the best stocked cookware shops in Wiltshire, with the added bonus of a market on Wednesday’s & Saturday’s offering fresh produce. Table For Two…… If you prefer to let someone else do the hard work after your day out, then there are numerous pubs, restaurants and bars to choose from in Marlborough. Take-aways too.
Fashion Facts
Marlborough has over twenty ladies fashion shops!
Time Off...Time to Try Something New With our website, we realised that in addition to telling everyone what a great place Marlborough is, we would also be encouraging new people to visit our town if we highlighted events we could actually attract a much wider audience. So we introduced our lively and colourful events section. A month by month guide to What’s On in Marlborough. Not only does this offer a great opportunity for shops to benefit from new visitors to the town, but also because its completely free to list an event , shops and businesses could help local charities, arts and artists to gain publicity for their productions or events.
